[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, Sept. 12.

This morning, while cranking a motor lorry which had been, accidentally left in gear, Mr. N. B. (Joe) Griffen, married, an employee of Burke’s Creek colliery, was caught between a wall and the lorry when the machine started forward. He suffered injuries which necessitated his removal to hospital. It is not possible to ascertain the full- extent of his injuries, but he suffered shock. ‘ The Inangahua River dropped one foot, in level from 6 p.m. yesterday until to-day. No extensive road damage has been reported as a result of the week-end rain. The Lewis PassWestport bus made the trip through last night. . Two thousand six hundred and twelve tons of coal were railed from Reefton for the week ended September 9 This tonnage comprises the output of mines in the Inangahua field for the week. Mrs. H. M. Israelson (Springfield) is visiting her mother, Mrs. W. O. Bierwirth, Reefton. L.A.C. Louis Kearns R.N.Z.A.F. is spending leave in Reef ton. Members of Wesley Church, Knox Presbyterian Church, and St. Stephens Anglican Church met in Knox Church Hall on Sunday night, and were given an address by Mr. J. K Patterson who chose as his subject “Law and Responsibility in New Zealand.” it was decided to form a 'Men’s Fellowship and to meet once nor month at the close of church services Rev. C. R.
