The weather was fine for the Avondale Jockey Club’s meeting yesterday. The totalisator handled £ 159,647 l(j/-, against £146,148 last year, an increase of £13,499/10/-. Sir Simon, Lord Theio, Te Kiwi, and Barrosa fell in the s Henderson Handicap. W. Caddy, rider of Sir Simon, received a broken shoulder, and S. Green; rider of Barrosa, a fractured leg. Both were removed to hospital. An inquiry into the accident was opened and adjourned until evidence of the injured jockeys was obtainable. An inquiry was held into the handling of Waiting in the Swanson Handicap, and his rider, W. Hooton, was censured.
