KUMARA NOTES

POUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.! The wedding took place recently at St Patrick’s Church.. Kumara, ol Miss Margaret Patricia McEnaney, daughter, of Mr ana Mrs G. McEnanev. of Kumara, and Pearse John Gilbert, son of Mr and Mrs J. Gilbert also of Kumara. The church was’decorated with chrysanthemums and cosmos by Mrs Reedy. Rev. Father Gregory performed the ceremony. Mrs McNabb was organist and ‘Mr J- Gilbert, cousin of the bridegroom, sang a solo. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a trained frock of white organdie. The full bodice was caught into a wide basque at the waist-line, from which fell the long full skirt. The neckline was finished i with Morocco knife-pleating and the veil was held by a head-dress oij orange blossom and satin Howers. She carried a sheaf of chrysanthemums, narcissi and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her two . sisters, Mary and Joan, who wore frocks of fuchsia taffeta. The hip-length bodices were trimmed at the neckline with silver ornaments, and the bouffant skirts wore of ankle-length. Both wore veils with sprays of taffeta | Howers, and they carried posies of 1 ch rysai ill iemu ms, ab ut illons and maidenhair fern. The flower girl Kathleen Clark, wore a frock of pale green organdie, with the bodice wr.isx-line and neck-line finished with liny frills. She carried a basket of chrysanthemums, abutillons and maidenhair fern. Mr Tom Gilbert, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr Owen Tomasi, cousin of the bride, was groomsman. As the bridal party left the Church the bride was presented with a. horseshoe by Margaret Hutchison. A reception was held in the Memori.;i Hall, Kumara. where Mrs McEnaney, mother of the bride, received the guests, wearing a floral frock with navy hat, coat and shoes to tone, and scarlet shoulder spray. Mrs Gilbert wore a black frock, with hat and shoes to tone and a fur stole, and she also wore a scarlet shoulder spray. Mr and Mrs P. J. Gilbert left later foi the North island, the bride wearing a check costume, with a blue hat and shoes to tone, and a fur stole.

Stewart, of the Kumara 1.0. staff, has resumed duties after annual holidays.
