CRIPPLED CHILDREN SOCIETY

Mr ,J. AV. Greenslade presided over an attendance of the following members at a meeting of the Greymouth branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children’s Society:—Mesdames F. A. Kitchingham, F. M. Dennehy, R. Reid, Allan Smith, Miss N. Moffatt, and Dr. K. McNamara.
The following report of the year’s work was presented:—The number of children registered is 35. One small girl has been in the Christchurch Hospital for over a year, and one has gone to the Deaf and Dumb School at Sumner. Eight to 10 children.are examined at the Grey Hospital by Dr. J. L. Will every three months, and Dr. MacNamara examines many of them at intervals between' Dr. Will’s visits. Financial assistance was given to five children, the sum of £34 being spent on special treatment, surgical boots and transport to Christchurch. An invalid chair was secured for the use of an invalid child. The Committee, which has not appealed for monetary assistance for some years, will make an appeal in September next.
