LONDON TESTS OF' DRUG. ;i A new drug, known as pathidine, lor relieving pain,in childbirth has been tested at two hospitals in the London area. It is known on the Continent as “dolaptin” and in the United States as “demerol.” . Results of the experiments are given, in the British Medical Journal. In one series of tests, carried out by Dr. Bedelia Gallen, of St. Mary Abbots Hospital, London, and Dr. Frederick Prescott, of the Wellcome Research Institution, London, detailed records were kept in 100 cases. It was found that many of the patients receiving pathidine actually slept during labour. Only five per cent, failed to obtain any relief.
