SHIHMEN RECAPTURED
CHUNGKING, Dec. 14. Despatches from the front declare the Chinese recaptured Shihmen which yesterday’s Chinese communique admitted the Japanese had captured. The Japanese garrison is now reported to be retreating north eastward- • A Chinese communique says tne Chinese in a smashing success in the rice-bowl region recaptured Lmli twenty-five miles north of Changten, and also recaptured a number ot villages, the Chinese hotly pursuing the retreating enemy. The Chinese claim that the Japanese suffered heavy casualties. . , , . Gen. Stilwell’s communique states. For the second successive night Liberators escorted by fighters in daylight blasted the Hanoi railway yards. The Japanese retaliating, attacked an advanced American base. Lightnings intercepted, shooting down two and probably destroying two others.
