The course was in good order and the totalisator handled £61,526, against £42,837 last year. Lord Chancellor’s win in the Te Awamutu Cup in course record time ranked as the best performance of the year He carried 9.13 and covered a mile and a-quarter in 2.3, or a fifth of a second outside the New Zealand record held by Bronze Eagle. Lord Chancellor has 9.2 in the Auckland Cup and his success does not entail any’rehandicap, as the conditions of the big event provide that only winners of a race or races exceeding the collective value of £5OO to the winner shall be subject to a rehandicap.
