AFRICAN SERVICE ’MEDAL RUGBY, November 17. It is officially announced by General Smuts that the King has approved steps being taken for the institution of an “African Service Medal” to be awarded to all members of the Union Defence Forces and other uniformed services of the Union who attested for service in Africa before May 13, 1943, the day on which Africa finally armed. Men and women of all ranks will be eligible.
