ON THE SEAS
THREE U-BOATS SUNK. RUGBY, September 28. It is announced in Washington that three U-boats were sunk in the Atlantic recently by a single aircraft flying from an escort carrier on convex duty. A fourth submarine is reported to have been damaged. Sixty-five survivors were picked up by- a. destroyer. _ ENEMY PATROL BOATS LONDON, Sept. 28. The Admiralty in a communique says' Light coastal forces operating north of Le Havre, on Monday morning, made a surprise attack. Irom close range, on three heavily-armed enemy patrol boats. They blew up one patrol boat, severely damaged a second, and left the third burning fiercely. Our forces safely returned to harbour. One officer was slightly wounded.
