INDIA’S FOOD SHORTAGE DELHI, September 22. An All-India Food Grams Policy Committee recommends that the Government should imporc one million ions of food grains annually, until further notice, with an additional half million tons in the first year to provide for a central reserve. The commitee admits there are shipping difficulties, but says it feels histified in pressing its recommendation, firstly, because the per capita food consumption is so low m India it cannot be greatly reduced; and, secondly, because Bengal Province, which, is the nearest one to the scene ci' possible large-scale military operations, is suffering great distress. The stocks are being sold at a controlled price.
