The following applications were heard at a sitting of the Wardens Court, Mr G. G. Chisholm presiding. J. H, Griggs for an extension of time for the hearing of an application ano for survey of a coal lease. —Recommended. G. McClatchie and Co., for a coal lease.—Granted. Terrace CoalMine, for a tramway license and for a tunnel license. —Both withdrawn. F. W. Baillie and W. T. Hawkins, for an ordinary prospecting license. — Granted. John Lewis, for a coal prospecting license. —Recommended. New Welcome Gold Mining Co., for a reduction in rent on two claim licenses. —Recommended. Big River Gold Mines, Ltd., for a reduction in rent on a claim license. —Recommended. Terrace Coal Mine, Ltd., for an extension of time for the hearing of an application. —Recommended. Mr G. G. Chisholm, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court heard the following civil cases: —J. P. Page v. Jack Henderson, judgment for plaintiff by default, for £l/10/-, costs 15/-. S. C. Robinson, trading as Chalk and Co., v. Elizabeth Wearne, judgment for plaintiff, by default, for £l/6/-, costs 8/-. On a judgment summons, P. J. Fitzgerald was ordered to pay to Osmond and Sons, N.Z., Ltd., £2 12/4, in default three days’ imprisonment. The Magistrate reserved his decision in a claim for possession of a tenement, Ernest Nicholson and Hurtyl Cameron v. Norman Clark. Mr Bell, of the Housing Department, is visiting Reefton in connection with a request made by the Inangahua County Council. Wednesday morning’s rail-car brought to Reefton visiting basketball and football teams from the Westport Technical School. The visitors were entertained by the Reefton School pupils. In the morning matches were played between teams representing Combined Reefton Convent and Reefton High School and the visitors. Scoring was: Westport A 18 v. Reefton 8; Westport B 17 v. Reef ton B 4; Westport A 11 v. Reefton A 3; Westport B 17 v. Reefton B 9. In the football match the visiting team won, the scores being 32/3. Mr J. Crossman was referee. Mr and Mrs N. Pahl and Mr E. Nicholson, who have been visiting Reefton, have reurned to Ross. Mrs W. Banks (Christchurch) is visiting relations in Reefton. Private J. Shaw, 2nd N.Z.E.F., has been visiting Reefton.
