A London cablegram announced that the Bombay correspondent of “The Times” reports the death in Bhopal of Siddi Wastad, at the age of 163 years.
A London cablegram announced the death of Mr. David Adams, Labour Member of Parliament for the Consett division of Durham since 1935.
The death occurred at Greytown, on Monday evening, of Mrs G. Knowles-Smith, the wife of Rev. Mr Knowles-Smith, who some years ago was superintendent minister of the Hokitika Circuit of the Methodist Church.
At a meeting of the Licensed Victuallers’ Committee at Hokitika Mr J. R. Taylor, who is leaving the district, resigned from the position of President, Mr H .J. Harrison being appointed his succsesor. Mr Taylor was made a presentation. Guests at Revingtons Hotel include Mi’ and Mrs W. H. Brown, Mr A. T. Bird, Mr L. J. Lewis (Christchurch); Mr C. H. Croft (Dunedin); Captain and Mrs W. R. Jones, Mr and Mrs E. M. Smith (Auckland); Mr and Mrs G. G. Newton (Kaikoura).
Mr and Mrs G. Lowery, of Ngahere, who are leaving to reside in Westport, have been the guests of farewell functions. Mr Lowery was met by members of the R.S.A. from Ngahere, Nelson Creek, and Blackball, being presented with a fountain pen, and Mrs Lowery was the recipient of a gift from friends at Ngahere and Blackball.
