REEFTON, July 21. At the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, before Mr G. G. S M., McClatchie and Co., on tin ee charges of operating heavy motor vehicles and not having heavy a ® licenses for same, were fined i each offence, with costs 10/-. H ALockington, for riding a bicycle altei dark without a light, was fined 10/-, with costs 12/-. S. Robertson, loi allowing stock to wander o n ’tne roads, was lined 10/-, with co-ts 10/ . A married woman pleaded guilty to the tlieit of a frock, the property of Robert Anderson Ltd (Greymouth), valued at £5/9/6. An order was made suppressing the name, and a sentence of 12 months’ probation was imposed. . , An application for two mineral licenses and for an extension of time for the hearing of an application made by the Burkes Creek Collieries at the Warden’s Court, before Mi Chisholm as Warden were all granted. Other applications were adjourned. The County Chairman (Mr W. Hemnseed) presided at the monthly meeting of the Inangahua District Patriotic Committee. The Grey Electric Power Board forwarded a donation of £5O towards the Inangahua District Fund. The Cronadun Pattriotic Committee wrote advising that they agreed to the Reefton Committee’s area being altered to include the Buller Road to the Short Track. It was decided that the donation of £lO 1/9 received from the Waiuta Red Cross be sent to the Westland District Committee, who are to be asked to allocate portion of this amount for Rod Cross work. Mrs W. J. Humphries advised that 57 scarves, 78 pairs of mittens and 26 balaclavas were on hand from knitters to forward to members of the Forces. i The treasurer (Mr W. B. Auld) stated that, for the month, the receipts were Defiance Company’s mine £43/15/-, Waiuta Soldiers’ Entertainment Committee £7/6/4, Grey Power Board £5O, Alexander Mine employees 16/2, Reefton Committee £49/13/6, £3B/16/-, W. T. Hempseed £l, Miss King 5/-; total, £l9l 12/-. Full receipts to date £4159 2/11. A second parcel of gramophone records had been received from Davis Brothers, of Merrijigs, totalling 60, making 110 records in all. Mr A. Wright, Merrijigs, also forwarded a parcel of gramophone records. Mr W. J. Humphries spoke of the splendid effort made in organising the recent welcome to the soldiers who returned on furlough. He moved that the organising committee for the entertainment be forwarded a letter of appreciation from the committee. Seconded by Mr J. Patterson and carried.
