KUMARA NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] There was a good attendance ol Kumara citizens last Thursday jng to welcome members or ut NtZ.E.F. on furlough. The reception took the form ol a ball with a few musical items. The Mayor (Mr A. B. Spiers) wotcorned the soldiers present. Roberts, Pte. J. Gardiner, Spr. J. linnetti, Snr. W J. Kennedy Pte A. Chinn, Pte. Tpi. P. and Sgt. H. Webster, and w-nM them a pleasant furlough Mi A. Birss (president of the R.S.A.) -nd Mr F. Rudkin (Home Guare.) also spoke. Sgt. Roberts replied. Items were given by Mis W J. I McNabb, Miss Betty Sinclair. Miso Marjorie Stewart, Messrs Colin Goad, Frank Richardson, Ivan May and Miss Fay Calder. The accompanists were Mesdames F. Wise, V. Chapman, and Miss Doris Flamer. _ The I Caledonian Orchestra (Hokitma) supplied the music for the dancing.
