At the meeting of the Red Cross Committee it was reported that, as a result of the special appeal lor donations for soldiers’ parcels an amount of £2O/16/- had been collected. A vote of thanks was passed for £1 given by children of the Kumara Junction School, and it was decided to send a letter of thanks to thenteacher, Miss D. Hamer. Mr Wise reported that he had ordered the goods for the parcels, and ths packing was left to the ladies. Mr Spieis was to inquire about suitable boxes. Ng credit had yet been received for all the rubber tyres sent from Kumara, and inquiries were to be made. On Thursday evening Mr Campbell of the W.E.A. addressed a public meeting. His subject was “Europe and the Post-war Period.” After the address a drama group was formed, and their leader is to be Miss C. ROIIC>. , z-, ' -X4. The Kumara School Committee met on Wednesday evening. Mr B. Becker presided. The Headmaster reported the roll had increased to 76, the average attendance being 68. A seat on the sunny side of the shelter shed had been erected. The sand pit had been boxed in, and it only required filling with sand. During the May vacation the floors had been scrubbed and oiled, and coal had been delivered. Mrs V. Clark had tendered her resignation as caretaker and Miss Aureen Ritchie had been appointed to the position. Accounts amounting to £9/8/10 were passed for payment.
