OPERA HOUSE— -To-night: “Lady from Louisiana” and “Atlantic Convoy.” Stirring, romantic adventure set in the world’s most glamorous city, “Lady from Louisiana” is showing at the Opera House. Miss Munson is cast as the boai’tiful and imperious daughter of the New Orleans loltei-y promoter, played "by Henry Stcpncnson. John Wayne is the young crusading Yankee brought clown to the southern metropolis by reformer Helen Westley to'put the lottery out oil busmess. The two meet—“ The Lady Hom Louisiana” and the crusading Yankee —fall in love and give rise to dramatic complications when the southern belle's father is killed. Feeling' that the man she loves is responsible, “The Lady from Louisiana ' tries to expel him from her heart, but love finds a way—as it ever does — and the picture ends in happy reunion.

“ATLANTIC CONVOY

Breath-taking action, fabulous adventure and thundering thrills are all combined in “Atlantic Convoy, at the Opera House. The story takes place at a small flyng base somewhere in Iceland, where Bennett, a Captain in the Marine Corps, is entrusted with tn? job ' of protecting Atlantic convoys. Infuriated at recent torpedoings, most of the Marines at the base suspect their weatherman, played oy Beal, of tipping oil local Nazis ns y> convoy departures, etc. Before their suspicions can be confirmed or repudiated, Miss Field enters the scene, when a ship, on which she was fleeing from Europe, is torpedoed. One of her fellow-survivors is revealed as a Nazi agent and he manages to implicate Beal in his affairs.

REGENT THEATRE—To-night: “My Favourite Slonde.”

Bob Hope, Madeleine Carroll and a penguin named Percy lead some Nazi spies through a scries of hilarious adventures in “My Favourite Blonde.’’ Faster and funnier than all previous Bob Hope pictures rolled into one. The picture presents Madeleine in the title role, with Hope as a ham vaudeville actor who has obtained a Hollywood contract because of his partner, Percy, a trained penguin. Madeleine, a British secret agent, is bound for Los Angeles with flight plans for the U.S. Army Air Corps when she barges in on the startled Hope and announces she’s going to accompany him to Hollywood. The picture doesn’t lag for a single second. Gale Sondergaard heads the spy gang.
