CHRISTCHURCH, May 20. ! Yesterday's sale at Addington was i the last for some time at which purchases of pork for civilian neeus I could bo made. A very small entry sold at a drop of 5/- to 7/- a heap. |F::t cattle values again fell with the Ihiee’est entry of the season, but sheep J prices were fairly well maintained. Store sheep: A few pens of good owe lambs met with satisfactory competition, one of Romney making 26/-, and. another of .Romney-Leicester c”oss sold at the same figure. Outers made up to 23/-, with inferior sheep from 15/- to 17/3. The best price for ewes in lamb was 24/- for a pen pi four and six-tooth half-bred sheep in lamb to Southdown rams. Other pens made from 14/- to 16/-. Wethers were in small supply, one pen ol lour and six-tooth Sheep making 25/6, and another 22/9. Fat lambs: A feature was a consignment of three trucks from Birdling's Fiat. Of these, 161 shorn tamos made from 27/4 to 29/7, averaging 28/6, and 133 woolly lambs from 33/6 to 41/7, the highest price of the sale. The next best price, 37/10, was secured by S. Hoskins, Irwell, and the Misses Shuttleworth, Southbrook, received 37/7 for a small pen. A pen of heavy Corrisdales from C. E. Jackson, Domett, made from 31/7 to 23/7. Amongst the big lines, one of 236 from R. G. Forbes, Waipara, sold from 27/10 to 29/7, and 150 from J. Payne,j Yaldhurst, made from 25/1 to 27/4, averaging 26/6. Fat sheep: The highest price was 32/- for a pen of two-tooth ewes, but most of the sales ranged from 20/- to 25/-, while lower grade sheep, many not eligible for the fat pens, met with la .satisfactory sale. Wethers were in pood suoplv. and some heavy sheep were foiward. Two trucks from the estate of J. P. McQuilkin. Ashburton, sold from 32/7 to 36/10, averaging 34/6, and a truck from the Annandale Estate, Akaroa, made from 31/10 to 34/1. averaging 33/6. Prime heavy wethers to 36/10. Prime mediumweight wethers 31/10 to 34/1. Light wethers to 30/-. Extra prime ewes to 32/-. Prime medium-weight ewes, 22/- to 24/-. Light ewes, 16/- to .18/6. Fat cattle: The tendency was downwards as the sale progressed, i the entry proving far in excess of requirements. There were some passings. Best beef made from 38/- to 40/- per 1001 b, good to 37/6, plain heavy 34/- to 36/-, secondary to 33/-, and cow down to 23/- per 1001 b. Extra prime heavy steers, to £l7 17/6. Prime steers, £l4/10/- to £l6/5/-. Prime medium-weight steers, £l2/10/- to £l4/5/-. Ordinary stosrs, £lO/10/- to £l2/5/-. Light steers, to £lO. Extra prime heifers, to £l3/12/6. Prime heifers, £9 to £ll/10/-. Medium heifers, £6 to £B. Light heifers, to £5/15/-. Extra prime cows, to £l3/2/6. Prime cows, £7/15/- to £9/15/-. Medium cows, £5/15/- to £7/5/-. Light cows, £4/5/- to £5/10/-.

Vealers: Large runners, to £7 18/6, medium to £6. Best vealers to £4/2/6, others £2/10/- to £3/3/-. Large calves, 37/- to 48/-, medium 27/6 to 36/-, small down to 9/-. Store cattle: Nine big framed threeyear Shorthorns, (in fairly forward condition, made £ll/11/-, and 11 Shorthorn cross, scarcely as big framed, £ll/1/-. A line of 34 Black Polls, with a few crosses in them, a fairly forward conditioned lot, sold at £ll/1/- for 10 three-year-olds, £ll 13/6 for a pen of slightly larger three-year-olds, and £9/3/6 for a pen of two to three-year-olds. A forward pen of nine Shorthorn three-year-olds, in forward condition, sold at £ll/11/-, and another oi 12 two-year-olds at £7/10/-. A pen of 15 well-grown Black Poll calves made £5/18/6. The demand was, brisk from the outset for these lines.

Dairy cattle: The entry was one of the heaviest of the season, comprising just on 100 head. Quality was indifferent over the greater part of the yarding, but there were some good cows and heifers included in the entry. Extra good cows, £l7 to £22. Good cows, £l4/10/- to £l6. Medium cows, £l2 to £l3/10/-. Average to inferior, £6 to £9. Good heifers, £l3 to £l5, medium £ll to £l2/10/-, inleit.or and ordinary £6 to £9. ’

Fat pigs: Light porkers, 39/6 to 44/6. Medium porkers, 49/6 to 57/6. Heavy porkers, 59/6 to £3/9/6. Choppers, £3/18/6 to £7/6/-. Light baconers, £3/14/6 to £4/4/6, medium £4/7/6 to £4/14/6, heavy £4 17/- to £5/4/6. Store pigs: Small weaners, 6/.- to 10/-. Best weaners, 12/- to 25/-. Slips, 16/- to 21/-. Small stores, 22/- to 24/-, medium 25/- to 28/-, large 29/- to 35/-.
