BALANCE OF £437.893
A summary has been issued of the receipts and paymenls of the National Patriotic [’’mid Board and the provincial councils for the year ended September 30. 1942. On October 1. 1941, there was a balance in the Board’s accounts of £457,610. Receipts from the provincial councils and from other sources for the year ended September 30, 1942, amounted to £788,078, making a total on the credit side of £1,245,688. Payments totalled £807,795, leaving a balance on September 30. 1942, of £437,893.
Details of the Board’s receipts and payments for the year are as follow: Receipts: General, £569,568; sick and wounded, £57,562; prisoners of war, £160.948; total, £788,078. Payments: General, £564,575; sick and wounded, £107,687; prisoners ot war, £135,533: total. £807,795.
Taking into account the Government grants of £.337,000 to meet the estimated cost of supplying prisoners of war food parcels and £3500 for censoring next-of-kin parcels, the Board’s estimated requirements to meet expenditure in the current vear are £789,000.
