Started Well: Rockery started off his new jumping season well with a meritorious win :n the steeplechase at Oamaru on Saturday. He also won this race last year. Rockery jumped w/U and was always well up with the leaders, coming home with some lengths to spare. He is to race next at Wlngatui in the principal hurdle races. Rockery is trained at Omoto by R. E. Johnstone.

Slow Away: Synthetic put up a fine performance to get third in the open sprint at Oamaru on Saturday after being slowest, away. This Paper Money sprinter won three "races at Westport at Easter and the manner :'n which the wins were accomplished justified the trip to Oamaru. Synthetic might not have won if he had gone away with the rest of the field, but ho would have made the winner's task much more difficult. Synthetic is trained by C. J. Walsh at Omoto.

Scottish Emperor: Mr J. R. McKenzie. owntr of Scottish Emperor, winner of the Oamaru Juvenile Stakes, will derive added pleasure from having bred the two-year-old, and its dam, Princess Napoleon, whose sire and dam, Silk Thread and Loretta Napoleon were both -imported from America by him. Princess Napoleon, the dam of Scottish Emperor, is by Silk Thread from Loretta Napoleon by Napoleon Direct from Cindy M.
