AERIAL EXCHANGES
RUGBY, April 9
An India communique reports no change on Arakan front. R.A.F. yesterday successfully bombed the air base at Shweba and objectives m Mayu Peninsula. All ours returned. Japanese bombers escorted by fighters yesterday attacked an aerodrome south of Chittagong, causing slight damage but no casualties.
FAMINE IN HONAN
(Rec. 11.30) CHUNGKING. April 9. Central News reports that 16.000,000 persons are foodless in famine stricken Honan Province. Eight hundred thousand have been moved to Shensi by relief and Government agencies.
HONG KONG RATIONS
CHUNGKING, April 9
The “China Central News” reports as from March 1, the Japanese have halved the food ration of 6.4 ounces of rice flour daily of non-belligerent nationals at Hong Kong, and advised them to depart voluntarily.
