RUNANGA NOTES
[our own correspondent.]
At the weekly meeting of the Runanga Debating Club, Mr. W. Williams presided over a good attendance. The evening consisted of prepared speeches and prepared readings, Messrs R. Bowman, J. Unwin, J. Richmond, W. Paterson and S. Braithwaite taking part. With Mr. R. McDonald promoter, Mr. H. Webb as ‘financial adviser’ and Mr. L. O’Loughlin, ‘Engineer,’ the meeting heard addresses on a proposed coal mining company in the Coal Creek. As was to be expected, it was the ideal seam, and the speakers went to some lengths to explain from a minor’s point of view, the excellent features of the “Radiant” coal seam. Criticisms were given by the Club leader, Mr. W. Wick.
