Mr. J. Hadcroft left, this morning, for Wellington.

Mr M. H. Eatwell has commenced duty in the traffic branch of the Railways Department at Greymouth.

Mr J. W. Shrimpton, accountant of the Money . Order and Savings Bank Branch, Greymouth, has returned to duty after extended leave.

Miss P. Curragh, of Denniston, has been appointed to a position on the staff of the Chief Post Office, Greymouth.

Constable Pawsey, of Wataroa, is a patient in the Westland Hospital, having received a severe cut on his left hand while using an axe.

Rev. and Mrs. E. O. Harding left, this morning, for Nelson, where they will be the guests of Bishop and Mrs. Stephenson. On Sunday next, Mr. Harding is to be ordained Priest.

The funeral of the late Mrs. Augusta Eleanora Martens took place at the Karoro Cemetery this afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. P. Kirkham.

The funeral of the late Mr. Albert Fensom, of Kumara, took place, this afternoon, at the Karoro Cemetery. Rev. K. Hadfield, of Hokitika, conducted the service.

Mr J. A. M. Reid, stationmaster at Runanga, left, this morning, on transfer to Christchurch. Before his departure he was presented with a farewell gift by the station staff. His successor is Mr R. W. Hyland, of Springfield.

Mr. Patrick Morressey, of Stratford, died on Saturday at the age of 69 years. A native of South Beach, Greymouth, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Morressey and a brother of the late Mr. John Morressey, of Greymouth. He had been engaged in farming in Taranaki for the last 45 years. Besides his widow, Mr. Morressey Js survived by two daughters. Mrs. N. Mclvor (Waitara), and Mrs. G. Ferguson (Stratford); four sons, Patrick, James. Richard, and Victor (Stratford); and a brother Michael (Whangarei).

.The death occurred suddenly in Wanganui early this morqing of Hon. P. K. Paikea, Member for Northern Maori and representing the Native Race on the Executive Council. He was in his 49th year. He left Wellington late on Friday afternoon to visit Mr H. T. Ratana, M.P. for Western Maori, who is in hospital at Patea, and on his way back t.o Ratana Pa on Saturday became ill and was taken to a private hospital in Wanganui. A haemorrhage developed last night and he died at 2 o’clock his morning.—P.A.

The death occurred suddenly at Blackball, this morning, of Mr George Reynolds, aged 53 years. Deceased, who had resided in the Blackball district for many years, was formerly engaged as a miner in the Blackball mine, but for the past few years had been employed by the Grej r County Council. He had been off work for some weeks as the result of an accident. Deceased is survived by his wife, four sons, Henry, Thomas, Joseph, and George (all of Blackball), and five daughters, Mesdames N. Meadowcroft (Blackball), M. Dalziel, J. Dalziel (Nelson Creek), E. Blackmore (Bell Hill) and Miss E. Reynolds (Blackball).

Mr Ivan Blackmore, a former resident of Greymouth, where he was born 60 years ago, died in Christchurch on Sunday. A railway official and bowler, he had participated in the West Coast Bowling Centre’s tournament earlier this year. Mr Blackmore, who left Greymouth over 30 years ago, was in the service of the Railways Department until he retired a few years ago at Dunedin, after whicn he had resided in Christchurch Pie was stationmaster at several stations, including Addington and Studholme Junction. Besides his wife and family, Air Blackmore is survived by two brothers, Frank (Greymouth) and Norman (Palmerston North), and by two sisters, Mrs Tfi mpl / ics (Palmerston North) and Miss Ada Blackmore (Wellington).
