FILM AWARDS HOLLYWOOD, March 4. Greer Garson has been awarded the Motion Picture Academy’s plaque for the best actress of 1942 for her portrayal of “Mrs. Miniver.” James Cagney is named the best actor for his performance of “Yankee Doodle Dandy.” The Academy chose “Mrs. Miniver” as the best picture.
ARCHBISHOP’S TOUR
LONDON, March 5
Interviewed at Seville, Archbishop Spellman of New York said that his audiences with Pope Pius XII. were extremely private. He added that he went to the Vatican at the Pope’s invitation.
Archbishop Spellman will visit Casablanca, where he intends to inspect the religious work of the American Army, of which he is a Chap-lain-General.
