REEFTON NOTES

[our own correspondent.] ’ REEFTON, March 4

Rev. A. Learning, the newly appointed Vicar of St. Stephen’s Church was inducted to his charge at a special church service on Wednesday. Archdeacon Smith (Nelson) officiated and preached the occasional sermon. The lessons were read by Rev. Mr. Scarfe (Ahaura). At the close of the service the new Vicar and Mrs. Learning were welcomed to Reef ton at a social gathering held at the Parish Hall Messrs A. P. Watson, Vicar’s Warden, and W. J. Humphries spokes for the congregation welcoming the new Minister. Archdeacon Smith and Mr. Scarfe also spoke. Rev. J. Patterson, for the Presbyterian Church, in Reefton, extended a welcome to the new minister, and Mr. Robt Honey also spoke for the Methodist congregation. Mr. Leo Burke who has been spending sick leave with his parents at Reefton, has left for Wellington.
