There were reduced entries in most sections at the Addington sale, yesterday, with a firming tendency, best beef sharing the rise. Store lambs: The highest price was 21/3 for a pen of strong-wool led lambs requiring little topping off. and there were several sales of somewhat similar sheep approaching the 20/- mark. Best lambs made from 17/9 to 21/3, other good lines from 15/3 to 17/2, and medium to good 12/6 to 14/5, ewe lambs from 16/1 to 19/9. Taken all over prices showed an advance of from 1/- io 1/6 a head on the values of a week ago.

Store sheep: The two-tooth division contained some attractive pens, the highest price being 44/- for 63 wellgrown Romney sheep from R. Studholme (Tai Tapu). Another 73 closer woolled but big-framed sheep made 39/-, and there were several sales at between 30/6 and 37/6. A limited yarding of lower grade two-tootlis sold well at from 22/- to 26/-. In the adult section the highest price of the day was 34/9 for a line of four-tooth shipped ewes, and another pen of four and six-tooth ewes brought 34/-. The best of the four-year-olds realised 22/6, and of the five-year-olds 19/-. Vealers: Best runners made to £7 8/6, medium to £4/18/6; vealers of best quality made from £4/10/- to £5/10/-, others 55/- to £3/10/-; best calves made up to 42/-, medium 20/ -to 26/- and small down to 5/-. Store cattle: A pen of good-framed Herefords, in forward condition, made £l3/13/6, 13 black polls £l2 6/-, and seven Shorthorn crosses_£ll 8/6. Another 47 steers, mostly Herefords, were forward iTom Nafbey’s Estate (Akaroa).
