HOKITIKA, December 22. Al the monthly meeting of the Hokitika Borough 'Council tin* Mayor (Mr A. R. Elcock) presiding, the ioillowing were present: Crs. 'l'. W. Dull, C. Caliari, D. P. Stuart, L. S. the..--. K. Aitken, W. 11. Stopfort tn Apologies were received from Crs. E. W. Heenan, S. G. Havill, and G. Heinz. The Treasurer’s report showed receipts £389/16/-, expenditure £1456 11/1. Accounts amounting to £108.') 6/7 were passed for payment. The foreman's and sexton’s reports were read and approved. Requisitions made by the sexton were granted. The Abattoirs report stated: Stock slaughtered for month of November was as follows: 27 cows, 37 heifers, 41 bullocks, 180 sheep, 9 lambs, 20 pigs and 6 calves. Condemned: 1 cow and 1 pig. Fees collected for the month amounted to £77/7/10, compared with £72/3/5 for the same period last year. The Clerk’s action in appealing for several Council employees was approved. With regard to river protection, it was decided to dump suitable material at the threatened places. Repairs to the pavilion and swings and see-saws in Cass Square were authorised. Authority was given for the- annual inspection of public buildings.

The Medical Officer of Health, s Christchurch, asking for Council’s estimated requirements for the whole of 1943 and 1944 in regard to sewage disposal equipment. Mrs Isabella Park Cowner; submitting plan of section 3381 and subdivision of section 3382, Gibson Quay, for Council’s consent, and also asking the Council to pass a resolution that section 125 of the Public Works Act shall not apply to the before-men-tioned land which is being transferred, The total area comprised in the land to be transferred is 18.4 perches with a frontage of 57 links to Gibson Quay.—Granted.

John Millar and Archibald Millar, by their agent. C. H. Morrison, application for consent to subdivide sections 251, 253, and 255, Beach Street, Hokitika, and to exempt the said subdivision from the provision of section 128 of the Public Works Act, 1928.—Granted. Park, Murdoch and James, agent for Steven George Havill, application for consent to plan of subdivision of sections 3227, 3289, 3230. .32.W, and 3228, Revell Street, Hokitika, and also to exempt the subdivision from the provisions of section 128 of the Public Works Act, 1928.—Granted.
