RABBITSKIN SALE

DUNEDIN, October 20. At to-day’s rabbitskin sale about 21 tons were offered. Because of a fall-ing-off in quality combined with a slackening in the demand overseas, values as compared with previous auction rates were, on an average, 6d to 30d lower. Following is the official range of prices:—First Winter bucks, 86d to 98d; first Winter does, 84d to 104 d; second Winter buck, 72d to 90d; first spotted Winter bucks, 66d to 82d: first spotted Winter does, 72d to 77d; outgoing Winter bucks, 53d to 67d; outgoing Winter does, 63d to 70d; Spring bucks, 36d to 4ld; Spring does, 40d to 50|d; furrier does, 70d to 82d; stained does, 32d to 36d; milky does, 12d to 24d; Summers, 14d to 16d; Winter broken, 28d to 34d; second Winter broken, 20d to 24d; Summer broken, 12d to 16d; Winter blacks, 48d to 60d; Winter fawns, 20d to 28d; second Winter fawns, 14d to 16d; hairskins. 12d to 15d; horsehair, to 29d. hide’sTevy. The following alterations are made in the export levy on hides: Ox hides and cow hides reduced to l|d per pound. Bull hides increased to Id per pound. Yearlings increased to I’d per pound. Calfskins, other than freezers, unchanged, 3d. The rates are operative from October 24 and every endeavour will be made by the Hides Committee to retain these rates for 12 months.
