FINAL "REMINDER Acceptances for the first day (Saturday next) of the Greymouth Trots close at nine o’clock to-night. Death of Trotter: The trotter Hatrack, an aged gelding by WrackPansy, died yesterday at V. Alborn's stables at Addington. It is also reported (says a Christchurch writer) that the New Zealand Cup candidate, Bronze Eagle, was in a bad way for a time, and that another crack pacer, Burt Scott, was mildly indisposed.

Keewah: The winner of the Washdvke Trot, Keewah, is a seven-year-old mare by Wrack-Native Queen, the dam also of Statuette, Maltravers and Chelidon. Keewah has not done much racing and may carry on with the good work. She has been penalised 48 yards in the Midland and Blaketown Handicaps at the Greymouth meeting.

Kept Going: Invulnerable, the McLean Stakes winner, will be taken to the New Zealand Cup meeting for handicap events. His only two-year-old classic engagement * outside the McLean Stakes which he won so easily is the Dunedin Champagne Stakes. He is engaged in the Dunedin Guineas and the New Zealand Derby next season.

Star Turn: With the tracks in splendid order some smart times were registered at Trentham one morning last week but the star turn was that of Kindergarten, who, with the featherweight R. Hewitt in the saddle, covered six furlongs in 1.12 1-5. The champion, who will contest the Harcourt Stakes at the Wellington Meeting, went smoothly throughout, coming home the last half-mile in 49.

Chance Lost: Lady Nuffield, who was in keen demand for her race on Saturday at Washdyke was slow to find her feet, and when moving up from last place turning for home, she stumbled badly, and nearly lost her rider. She is to accompany The Joker to Trentham this week, in the charge of the Wingatui trainer, J. A. White. The Joker was ridden into second place on Saturday in the principal event by K. Thomson, V. A. Lee’s apprentice. VICTORIA PARK ACTIVITIES An excellent trial over a mile and a half by Oxford Scholar and Leamington and a good mile by Vai Rey were the features of the work at Victoria Park, on Sunday morning. The track, which was in excellent order, was a scene of activity, 16 horses being exercised, but there was little fast work, and all the horses were worked two carts out from the rails.

Oxford Scholar (Yeatman) and Leamington (Manderson) set out on a mile and a half task, accompanied by Oxford King (Quinlan) and Prince Lytton (Lalor). The latter two were left behind after the last half mile was commenced, and Oxford Scholar and Leamington finished together in 3.30. Both finished full of running, and they came their last mile in 2.15 which represented an excellent trial so far away from the rails. It was a particularly good effort on the part of Leamington, who looks in first class order, and may yet live up to the expectations of his connections. Oxford Scholar is also ready to race at short notice, but there is no class to suit this good pacer at the Greymouth meeting. Prince Lytton went well for a mile, and for a maiden, his display was promising. Oxford King was blowing hard early, and does not look ready to race. Vai Key and Noble Reta were the only other fast workers and the former made the better impression. Noble Reta did not appear to be pacing kindly, but her companion showed a lot of pace. IVI. B. Edwards’s quartette, Ngarimu, Zingarrie. Sailor’s Fancy, and the Gamble colt, who raced as Tolerate at the matinee meeting were out jogging. The three older pacers look to be in fine order, and Zingarrie looks better than he has for some time. The Gamble colt is a fine individual, and has shown that he has inherited his sire’s speed. An interesting juvenile also in the care of Edwards is a yearling filly by Grattan Loyal from Huia Potts, which has been entered for classic races. J. M. Docherty has two in his care, Marina Rey and a four-year-old filly by Rey De Oro from a Pygmalion mare. The former is looking well, and did some strong work in good style yesterday. The other filly is held on lease from Mr. P. Power, who once owned a good winner m Beach Boy, but she has not been in work long. Dawn Grattan was given several miles of strong work, without the straps. This mare is in nice order, perhaps a trifle burly, but full of life, and anxious to go fast. She may be better for a race but she impresses as likely to redeem the promise she has shown at an early date. J. R. Coburn was out exercising his two charges, a Truman Direct youngster and the Worthy Bingen trotter. The’ condition of these two maidens is a credit to their mentor. The trotter showed some promise at the matinee meeting, when he recorded an eS A Grattan Loyal trotter trained by G P Thompson, and Patricia, owned and trained by Mr. C. Heaphy, were .worked together, the latter in a jogger Eoth hit out freely, and Patricia, particularly, impressed. This filly has a fine style of moving, and. shows considerable promise, for she is only a baby. She was bred by her owner, and is by Great Bingen from Erin s Beauty, ’ the latter of which Mr. Heaphy raced. At present this filly is rather a handful, but with plenty of steadv work she is settling down.
