TRIAL OF HESS
RUSSIAN PRESS DEMAND
(Recd. 11 a.m.). LONDON, Oct. 19. The immediate trial of Hess is urged by “Pravda,” in a leader on the punishment of German war criminals. “It is necessary to determine Hess’s present capacity. Is he a criminal liable to be tried, and punished, or is he a plenipotentiary of Hitler m England enjoying extraterritorial rights? To imagine Hess safe from the judgment of the people’s tribunal for the duration is to close one’s eyes to the crimes of one of Hitler’s most bloodthirsty criminals.”
