CANINE CORPS NEW YORK, August 16. The War Department has announced an intensive training programme for dogs in a new Canine Corps being organised. The dogs will be used as sentries, messengers,- and aeroplane spotters, and also for attacking enemy parachutes.
THEIR SECOND WAR NEW YORK, August 16. The U.S. Army has requested the Mayors of all cities to contribute trophies of the last war, such as captured cannon and tanks, now standing in parks, for conversion into armaments. The. Army promises to replace them, after the war with new trophies captured from Germans and Japanese. MAY MARRY IN ENGLAND. LONDON, August 17. American soldiers in Britain may now marry. Their wives will be paid the full allowance, which is £B/15/monthly in the case of privates. To check hasty weddings a soldier must give his commanding officer three months’ notice of his intention to marry. Marriage does not make a woman an American citizen, but she will not be required to enter America under the quota. When going to America she may easily take out American citizenship.
