MOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,” “The Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926,” and all other powers and authorities enabling it in that behalf, the Greymouth Borough Council will, at a Special Meeting of the Council to be held in the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Mackay Street, Greymouth, at 5 p.m. on THURSDAY, the 27th day of August, 1942, MAKE AND LEVY the following rates for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1942, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1943, namely:— I. A consolidated rate of 14 7201000 of a penny in the £ on the rateable value appearing in the Valuation Roll of all rateable property within the Greymouth area of the Borough of Greymouth on the basis of the unimproved value of such property for the purpose of producing:— 1. A General Rate of 8 344-1000 of a penny in the £. 2. Security Rates to provide interest and sinking fund on the following loans, namely:— (a) Greymouth Borough Conversion Loan No. 1 of 1 7011000 of a penny in the £. (b) Redemption Loan of £lO,400 of 438-1000 of a penny in the £. (c) Relief of Unemployment (Watermain) Loan, 1932, of 125-1000 of a penny in the £. (d) Town Improvements Loan of 502-1000 of a penny in the £. (e) Conversion Loan No. 2 of 128-1000 of a penny in the £. (f) Renewal Loan, 1937 of 4331000 of a penny in the £. (g) Omoto Road Improvements Loan, 1937 of 66-1000 of a penny in the £. (h) Blaketown Gas Reticulation Loan, 1937 of 106-1000 of a penny in the £. (i) Sewerage Extension Loan, 1937 of 2 98-1000 of a penny in the £. (j) Omoto Road Widening Loan 1938 of 34-1000 of a penny in the £. (k) Omoto Road Slip Loan, 1938 of 54-1000 of a penny in the £. (l) Unemployment Relief Loan, 1938 of 504-1000 of a penny in the £. (m) Sewerage Advances to Ratepayers’ Loan, 1937, of 1871000 of a penny in the £. • 11. A Consolidated Rate of 13 1661000 of a penny in the £ on the rateable value appearing in the Valuation Roll of all rateable property within the Cobden area of the Borough of Greymouth on the basis of the Unimproved Value of such property, for the purpose of producing:— 1. A General Rate of 8 344-1000 of a penny in the £. 2. Security Rates to provide interest and sinking fund on the following loans, namely:— (a) Cobden Water Supply 1935 of 3 831-1000 of a penny in the £. (b) Renewal Loan, 1937 of 4331000 of a penny in the £. (c) Omoto Road Slip Loan, 1938 of £lOOO of 54-1000 of a penny in the £. (d) Unemployment Relief Loan, 1938 of £B2OO of 5041000 of a penny in. the £. 111. A Hospital and Charitable Institution Rate of 1 626-1000 of a penny in the £ on the Capital Value of all rateable property within the Borough of Greymouth. IV. Water Rates in Respect of the Ordinary Supply as follows: — (1) On all lands and dwelling houses within the Borough of Greymouth to which water is

supplied, computed as .follows: — (a) Where the annual rateable value on the Valuation Roll does not exceed twelve pounds ten shillings, a rate of ten shillings per annum. (b) Where such annual value exceeds twelve pounds ten shillings a rate of four per centum of so much of such value as does not exceed two hundred pounds, three per centum of so much of such value as exceeds two hundred pounds but does not exceed three hundred pounds, two per centum of so much of such value as exceeds three hundred pounds, provided that the maximum annual value of any individual rateable property shall be deemed not to exceed £4O in respect of each dwelling house erected on such property. 2. In respect of buildings (other than dwelling houses) within the Borough of Greymouth, to which water is supplied, and in respect of lands and buildings within the Borough of Greymouth to which water can be, but is not supplied, situated within one hundred yards from any part of the waterworks, a rate equivalent to onehalf of the respective water rates hereinbefore provided for, AND the said Council does further resolve that each of the above mentioned rates be payable at the Borough Council Office, Town Hall, Greymouth, in one sum, on the 31st day of August, 1942.
