RICCARTON RACES PROSPECTS FOR TO-MORROW [SPECIAL TO “STAR."] CHRISTCHURCH, August 14. The Grand National Steeplechase meeting will be concluded at Riccarton to-morrow, when well-filled fields will again be paraded. Chief interest will be centred in the Grand National Hurdle race, for which Erndale has oeen one of the favourites since his win at the Christchurch Hunt meeting, but there is now a doubt about him starting, as he has been under treatment since Tuesday for an enlarged leg caused through striking a fence when schooling on that day. In his absence Foxiana, Kanui te Pai, Pekoe and Alienate will no doubt dispute favouritism. The Lincoln Steeplechase should be another spectacular race, and all acceptors are likely to start. The, weather has been threatening since Wednesday, but it there is no rain, the track will be in the same order as on the first day, firm but yielding. Arrangements have been made to run the Woolston Hack Handicap in two divisions, but as only two horses have to drop out, these may not be necessary.
