I REEFTON, July 21. The Armed Forces Appeal Board sat at Reefton to-day. Mr. W. Meldrum presided, Messrs Panther and P. J. McLean- being members. Decisions were:—F. W. Archer for leave to appeal for C. H. Shutt from Burke’s Creek Collieries; granted and case adjourned sine die. Burnwell Coal Co. for David Hamill, Mine Manager; adjourned sine die. Terrace Coal Mines for Victor L. Ford and Hugh J. Gough, miners; both adjourned sine die. Imperial Coal Syndicate for Cyril Curtis, miner; adjourned sine die. Alexander Mine for leave to adopt appeal for John O’Flaherty, trucker; leave granted and adjourned sine die. Pyramid Coal Co. for James H. Phillips and Henry H. Hunt, miners, and Joseph A. Wills, lorry driver; all adjourned sine die. Burke’s Creek Colliery for Robert G. Gilmore, trucker. Charles G. Hinton, trucker, Lionel H. Jarvis and R. N. Wildermoth, miners; all adjourned sine die. Blackwater Mines Ltd. for Andrew McTaggart, toolsmith, Donald G. Becker Blacksmith, A. G. Brooks, William H. Hunt, J. D. White, miners, William J. Prendegast, trucker, R. D. Welsh, timber repairer, C. J. Hall, assistant electrical engineer; all adjourned sine die. Waipuna Dredging Co. and J. A. Davy for Wallace H. McAlpine, rigger, asking for postponement of service to January, 1943; adjourned three months for review. E. N. Werner, electro welder; adjourned three months for review. Director of National Service for F. J. Herring, bushman, supported by George Williams, mining timber contractor; adjourned sine die. Reefton Electrical Light Company for R. A. Black, electrician; adjourned sine die, no Home Guard service, reservist to remain in E.P.S. William O’Malley for his son, George O’Malley, farm hand; adjourned sine die. James D. O’Regan, farmer, grounds of undue hardship and public interest; adjourned sine die. Brian C. Carson, farmer, grounds of Public interest and undue hardship; adjourned sine die. D. J. Williams and Miss J. Williams for William D. Williams, farmer; adjourned sine die. New Commercial Garage, application for release from camp of George G. Willis, apprentice mechanic; granted release for 10 weeks from July 27. Mrs. H. E. Banks for E. T. Murcott, bushman, lor release from camp for six months; application refused. All mining appeals were made on grounds of public interest and in all adjournments reservists were ordered to join the Home Guard. _____
