Maisie Pilbrow, aged 19, and pretty, employed at the factory of Al- ; exander Harvey and Sons Ltd., when told that she won the £2OOO first prize in the Black Cat Art Union, was at first incredulous, then celebrated with two pies, and decided to take the remainder of the day off. She resides with her parents in a very modest home in Collingwood Street, Ponsonby. This was the first ticket she had ever bought. Her father is a motorman on the city trams, and she has two younger sisters and a small brother. She has not yet decided what to do with the winnings, but thinks she will be able to develop her natural liking for music.
