BOXING AUCKLAND, July 20. A professional heavy-weight boxing contest between Don Mullett, of Wellington, and Bill Pascoe, of Southland, ended in a win for Mullett by a knock-out, in the fourth round. SWIMMING z / LONDON, July 20. Abelardo Montovio, aged fifty-five, claimed the Spanish ana world’s distance swimming records after cover, ing 53f miles in twenty-one hours, thirty-three minutes. He swam in the Guadelquivir River and was sustained only by sherry. RUGBY FOOTBALL. St. Bede’s College defeated St. Andrew’s College in their annual Rugby match on Saturday by 42 points to seven. Playing for the winners, W. Meates, a Greymouth boy, converted six tries, kicked a goal from a penalty, and scored a try, a total of 18 points. u
