INDIAN CONGRESS

GANDHI’S BLACKMAIL.

NEW DELHI, July 20.

Firoz Khan Noon, the new Defence Member of the Viceroy’s Council has issued a statement strongly criticising the Indian Congress policy. He says: “By force, Gandhi, at last, has come out in his true colours. Gandhi’s demands are sheer blackmail, and a stab in the back to all of the Governments that are straining every nerve to withstand the ruthless onslaught of dictatorship.” The newspaper “Dawn,” official organ of the Moslem League, describes the Congress’s “Quit India” resolution as a challenge to the British Government, the United States, and all other Indian parties. The newspaper adds: “It is beyond comprehension how Congress imagines India in a state of turmoil can assist the United Nations or defend itself against a ruthless enemy.”
