FRENCH UNIONIST SHOT
LONDON, May 20
The Free French authorities announce that M. Rene le Gall, secretary of the Labourers’ Union of the Seine-et-Oise department, has been shot as a hostage in Paris. German authorities in Paris announce that five Jews have been shot for attacks on German soldiers. GERMAN OFFICER SHOT. (Rec. 1.50 p.m.) LONDON, May 20. It is reported from Vichy that a youth fired three revolver shots at a German officer near Notre Dame, Paris, gravely wounding him. The youth escaped on a bicycle. Two Paris buildings, occupied by Germans, were bombed. 4 A Frenchman and' Frenchwoman were executed at Lille for sheltering a British soldier. Another Frenchman was executed xor armed sabotage. “Hamburger Fremdenblaut” reports that the Amiens prisons are so packed, there is no room for two convicted thieves.
HOLLAND ANNEXED
LONDON, May 19.
The - Soviet Tass Agency quotes a Stockholm report that Germany is planning to incorporate the Netherlands in the Reich, under the name of Niedermark, with its own Cabinet, but without Ministers for War, Foreign Affairs, or Economic Affairs. There would be no Customs barrier between the Netherlands and the Reich. Mhr. A. Mussert, leader of the Dutch Nazi Party, is said to have agreed to be Prime Minister. Hitler is expected to complete arrangements when Heydrich and Mhr. Mussert go to Berlin shortly.
