REEFTON, May 19. The Armed Forces Appeal Board sat at Reefton to-day. Mr. Lovell presided, Messrs. Panther and Manson being members. The following appeals were reviewed: J. A. Davy, on grounds of public interest and undue hardship, for Jack A. Davy, engineer, and Slab Hut Creek Dredging Coy., on same grounds for same reservist. —Adjourned sine Pie.

Inangahua Sawmilling Coy., for Fred W. Quaife, truck driver. —Adjourned sine die. Landing Sawmill, for Arthur W. Ross, bushman.—Adjourned sine die. James D. Comerford, farmer.—Adjourned sine die. Hempseed Bros, for W. T. Hempseed, grocer, and W. T. Hempseed, personal appeal.—Adjourned sine die. Mrs. H. Mulligan for her son, John H. Mulligan, and John H. Mulligan, builder, personal appeal.—Adjourned for three months for review.

Comet Mining Party, for leave to adopt appeal for Thomas J. Williams, coal miner, from Waitahu Coal Mining Syndicate, and for Arthur H. Thompson, miner, from Clele Coal Mining Coy.—Leave granted. Adjourned oine die.

Blackwater Mines, Ltd., for Ronald Simmons, miner, and R. Horsburgh, trucker.—Mr. W. G. Porter asked leave to withdraw the appeal for Horsburgh, who had left the company’s employ. He had, so far as was known, left to join the Forces. Simmons had been mining since 1937.— Adjourned sine die. W. J. Humphries, for Keith Kent, electrical engineer.—Adjourned sine die.

A Marsden, for Charles A. Mars-den-Harmer. —Adjourned sine die. William Douglas, farmer.—Adjourned sine die. M. S. O’Malley, for his son, J. C. O’Malley, farmer.:—Adjourned, reservist to carry out three months’ military training from May 31. In all appeals, reservists were ordered to join the Home Guard. An appeal by Miss J. T. Williams and by W. D. Williams, farmer, was adjourned until next sitting, for reservist to undergo further medical examination.
