GOODS NOT SUBJECT TO RISE
A list of items which will be classified by the Customs Department as “apparel” (one of the 38 classes stabilised recently) and which will be subject to sales tax at the former rate of 10 per cent, is as follows:— Women’s wear (including children's and girls’ wear). —Boot laces, ’ shoe laces, rain hoods, dress preservers, stockings of all kinds, “gym.” hose, tennis socks, golf socks, children’s socks, shoes, slippers, sandals, goloshes, gumboots, boots, tennis shoes, gloves of all kinds, mittens, rubber gloves, dresses, suits, costumes, coats, skirts, jumpers, cardigans, twin sets, slack suits, slacks, blouses, raincoats, housecoats, ensembles, jumper suits, shorts, jodphurs, fur coats, fur necklets, legginette suits, bridge coats, all school wear, corsets, corselettes, brassieres, underwear (comprising bloomers, vests, slips, panties, and scanties), pyjamas, spencers, nightdresses, dressing gowns, swim suits, bust protectors, sanitary towels, smocks, aprons, overalls, blousettes and fronts, neckwear, scarves, belts, collars and cuffs, girdles for dressing gowns, etc. Babies' wear.—All babies’ clothes, feeders and bibs, shawls, bootees and shoes, diaper squares. Men’s wear (including boys’ wear). -Pyjamas, suits, coats, raincoats, sports coats, leather jackets, shorts, slacks, football shorts, swim shorts, jerseys, cardigans, slipons, pullovers, shirts, underwear of all kinds, collars, ties, scarves, socks, braces, bracer belts, suspenders, garters, belts, money belts, gloves, overalls, blazers, all school wear, boot and shoe laces, shoes, boots, slippers, sandals, canvas and rubber sports shoes, goloshes, gum boots.
