SEQUEL TO U.S. PROTEST LONDON, Feb. 16. According to French broadcasts, the French Resident-General in Tunisia, Admiral Esteva, and the French Re-sident-General in Morocco, General Nogues, have been summoned to Vichy, where they conferred with both Marshal Fetain and Admiral Darlan. ' The London “Daily Telegraph’s correspondent, Mr. Wareing, says: ■‘These visits are directly traceable to the American protest against the passage of French supplies from Tunisia to Libya for the use of Marshal von Rommel. Mr. Wareing adds: It can be expected that Marshal Petain will again tell Washington that he has been ignorant of what has been going on, and that he will promise measures to prevent any further irregularities in German interest. SPANISH HELP FOR GERMANY LONDON. Feb. 16. The Moscow Tass Agency, in a message from Lisbon, says: “Spain has agreed to grant Germany 50,000 tons of grain which formerly was intended for Spring sowing.” The Agency adds: “Germany has imposed on Spain treaties permitting German recruitment of 300,000 workers in Spain, in addition to 60,000 Spaniards who already have compulsorily been employed in Germany.”
