KARORO CLUB MEETING The fourth annual general meeting of the Karoro. Bowling Club was held in the Perotti Hall. In the absence of the President, Mr. R. Sansom through illness, the meeting was presided over by Mr. J. M. Bunt, Vice A motion of sympathy was passed in connection with the death on active service of a son of Mr. Conning of the Hokitika Club. Mr. J. Kyle, one of the foundation members, who was unable to attend owing to ill health, sent good wishes. A motion of sympathy to Mr. Kyle was passed. The annual report showed that the Club had been active during the vear all local clubs having been visited as well as Hokitika and Reefton. The club was also represented at the Dominion Tournament and at the Blenheim and Christchurch Easter- Tournaments. The balance sheet showed the club to be in a strong position. The .election of officers resulted: — President: Mr. J. M. Bunt; Vice-Pre-sident: Mr. W. Hughes; Hon. Secretary and Treasurer: Mr. J. Greengrass. Hon. Auditor: Mr. J. Saunders. It was; resolved unanimously, that it be a re -1 commendation to the general committee that the question of taking a postal ballot on the subject be considered.

GREYMOUTH CLUB REPORT The Greymouth Bowling Club Committee’s Report on the 1940-41 season states: — Heavy maintenance work had to be carried out at the green, particular attention being given to the new green and although it was not up to the best West Coast standard it is showing improvement. The committee again congratulates the green keeper (Mr. Knell) for the excellent manner in which the greens were prepared for play and upon the state of the Club’s grounds in general. The Club’s membership at the close of the past season was: Full members 76; Honorary members 11; Life members 2; Country members 2; On Active Service 2. Total 93. During the season 10 new members were elected. Annual competitions resulted: — Senior Championship Singles: L. G. Mercer. Senior Championship Pairs: S. Smith, R. G. Chisholm (skip). Rinks: F. A. Hughes, S. Smith, J. S. Robertson, L. G. Mercer (skip). Tate Cup: E. Rosewall, J. Bruerton. Lyttelton Cup: A. Parlane, E. Moss (skip). One challenge match for the Reynolds Badges was played against Hokitika and the club w,ere not successful in winning this game. The club inaugurated a very successful Pairs Tournament at Easter. The club was again congratulated by visiting bowlers upon the excellence of the green.
