RESTRICTIONS ON WEARING. WELLINGTON, July 17. The sale or supply in any other • way of uniforms, badges and 1 emblems of any of His Majesty’s ; Forces may for the future only be > made if the transaction is authorised I by a competent authority, stated Mr. 1 Nash. Regulations giving the Government power adequately-to control the position are being published in ' the Gazette to-day. under the Uniforms and Badges Emergency Regu - lations, 1941. The restrictions apply to uniforms, badges and emblems of the Emergency Reserve Corps, a Fire Brigade, or the Ambulance Service. Tailors and merchants who usually deal in these articles should, therefore, apply as soon as possible for the requisite authority. Applications should be addressed to the Naval, Army or Air Secretary, as the case may be, for permission to supply uniforms for the Services. In the case of uniforms for the Emergency Reserve Corps, Fire Brigades, or Ambulance Services, applications should be addressed to the Director of National Service, Wellington. In addition, men seeking to- purchase these articles must produce authority for supply from the Service concerned. There will, therefore, be a double check. , The wearing of uniforms, badges, oi- emblems by unauthorised persons is prohibited. There is no restriction, however, on the wearing as an ornament by any woman or girl, when in civilian dress, of any naval, military, or Air Force badge, or any miniature nr brooch designed to imitate such a badge, provided'it does not exceed one-hali the size of the original badge. It is essential that every precaution should be taken to prevent unauthorised wearing of uniforms, and possible abuse.—P.A.
