GENERAL ELECTIONS
MR. NORDMEYER’S OPINION. AUCKLAND, July 17. “I know nothing more calculated to split and disrupt the people of this country than the formation of a National Government,” said the Health Minister (Mr. Nordmeyer), at a meeting in Bayswater, last night. The Minister said it would be impossible for the two parties, whose interests in domestic matters were so far opposed, to agree in Cabinet. “If the-majority of people don’t want Labour to rule, they have got the right to say so. In a few months’ time, they will be able to say whether they approve .of the z Government’s domestic and war policy.”
Answering a questioner, Mr. Nordmeyer said that in his personal judgment there would be no National Government and there would be a General Election.
