Miss H. Neubauer arrived yesterday, from Wellington.

Mr. C. Adams, National Secretary of the Harbour Board Employees’ Union, arrived yesterday, from Wellington.

Mr. F. P. McGrath, of Wellington, who has been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. McGrath, will leave tomorrow, for Harewood, to join the R.N.Z.A.F., as a wireless operator. .

Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, Mayor of Wellington, has been selected as the National Party’s candidate for the Wellington North seat.—P.A.

Mr. James Hamilton, brother of the Hon. Adam Hamilton, died at his home at Auckland on Sunday. Mr. Hamilton was the eldest member of the Hamilton family, and had been in business in Takapuna, Auckland, for many years.

A London cablegram stated that R.A.F. Flight-Lieutenant N. T . Mowat, eon of Mr ahd Mrs A. N. Mowat, of Otago, is affianced to Flight Officer Marjorie Allen, of the W.A.A.F., daughter of Captain R. W. Allen, of Liverpool.

The death is announced from Auckland of Mr. John Alexander,_a member of the Legislative Council until last month. He underwent a serious operation in November last, and was in hospital until February. He had since been at his home at Remuera.—Press Assn.

The death occurred at Hokitika, on Monday, of Mr Archibald Ingram. Deceased was a native of Hokitika, aged 67 years. He had been in illhealth for some years. During his seafaring career, he was master of several steamers, including the Gael. He leaves a widow and one son, Thomas, also a sister, Mrs S. Taylor, of Ngahere.
