MINER’S SERIOUS INJURIES
ACCIDENT AT WALLSEND. Severe injuries, including the loss of the left foot, were suffered by Arthur Carson, 31, married, of Taylorville, in an accident in the mine of Brunner Collieries Ltd., Wallsend, yesterday afternoon. Carson, a rope road worker, was engaged in clipping trucks on to the main rope, at a junction near the far end of the mine when he was caught between a runaway truck and two stationary trucks. The runaway passed over his left foot and almost completely severed it. His other injuries included a fracture of the right leg and injuries to the back. Dr. M. R. Sneddon, of Brunner, attended to the injured man at the scene of the accident.’ He was brought to the surface and conveyed" to the Grey Hospital, where a blood transfusion was given last evening. Today, his condition was reported to be still serious.
