NEW WEAPONS
GERMAN—U.S.A. DISCLOSURES. [BY CABLE—PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LONDON, April 23. The Germans claim to have five new weapons. The first is an impenetrable smokescreen; the second, a device enabling tanks to climb ' steep obstacles; the third, a bomb for use against rock fortifications; the fourth, a noiseless air propellor adaptable for ships, and the fifth, a detector in a submarine emitting rays locating the positions and numbers of ships in a convoy and enabling the submarine to operate without raising its periscope. This has been successfully used recently. A message from Washington says the United States Army announces that it is developing a new secret weapon which some ordnance officers call a “panzer killer.” It is a selfpropelled anti-tank gun mount. This announcement follows recent statements by military experts that the best way to stop armoured divisions is with a tank chaser or destroyer.
