GREYMOUTH’S WEATHER

HIGHER RAINFALL THIS YEAR. Although the number of days on which rain fell was slightly less, the rainfall at Greymouth for the twelve months ended to-day was consideri ably in excess of last year’s total, which was well below the average. For the 12 months ended to-day, rain fell at Greymouth on 212 days, for a total of 98.77 inches. Last year, rain fell on 21,5 days, but the total- was 'only 83.40 inches. This year’s high total was brought about by an excepI tionally wet first quarter, the total for the three months ended March 31 being 35.76 inches, while the second quarter, with 24.35 inches was also jwet. The driest period of the year i was the third quarter, July-Septem-ber, when only 14.70 inches fell. In theffinal quarter of the year, ending i to-day, rain fell on 52 days for a total of 23.98 inches. During the month of December, ending to-day, rain fell at Greymouth on 16 days, for a total of 6.57 inches, the maximum fall for any one day being 128 points bn December 20. In December last year, rain fell on 15 days, the total being 6.11 inches, and the wettest day, December 2, with 168 points.
