R.A.F. ATTACKS

RESTRICTED BY WEATHER [BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.] RUGBY, December 30. Bad weather over Europe seriously restricted R.A.F. bomber operations last night. Despite this, a small number of British aircraft attacked an objective in Germany and also the invasion ports and aerodromes in enemy-occupied territory. It is officially stated that two R.A.F. aircraft are missing from these operations. NAPLES AGAIN RAIDED. LONDON, December 30. Reports from, Rome admit an extensive- raid on the naval base at Naples last night. An official statement says that two waves of bombers attacked the naval base. COMPARATIVE LOSSES. RUGBY, December 30. During the week ended at midnight on Saturday,, the Germans in raids on London lost seven planes two in the early hours of Sunday, December 22, three on the night of Monday-Tuesday, one during Tuesday, and one on Christmas Day. During the same period, no British fighters were lost. Five British bombers were lost in the course of widespread and heavy attacks over enemy and enemy-occu-pied territory—one on the night of Monday-Tuesday, one on the night of Tuesday-Wednesday, one on the night of Thursday-Friday, and two on the night of Friday-Saturday. “SILENT BOMBERS” CLAIM.

BERLIN, December 29. An authorised spokesman of the German Air Force said: “Our invention of the first successful silent motor bombers and motor speed-boats may permit of our invasion of England in the Winter. It is highly possible that one day this Winter will be chosen to send,over squadrons of silent bombers to attack England. “Simultaneously, an armada of speedboats would cut their way through the English Channel or the North Sea waters. Such an attack would be the first stage of an invasion.”
