WEDDING
WEIR—NOLAN. The wedding took place at the Church of “Our Lady of the Woods,” Wataroa, on December 26, of Ann, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Nolan, Wataroa, to John Francis, youngest son of Mrs and the late Mr D. Weir, of Blackball. Rev. J. Quinn performed the ceremony, and celebrated Nuptial Mass. At the offertory, Gounod’s “Ave Maria” was sung by Mrs J. Dennehy, sister of the bride.
The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr Andrew Nolan, of Ahaura, wore a frock of cream satin , cut with a long train. Her veil of Limerick lace fell from a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of St. Joseph’s lillies intermingled with maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by her
cousins, Misses Mary and Doreen Ritchie, of Okuru, and by Miss Coral Weir of Watatoa, sister of the bridegroom. The three bridesmaids wore frocks of sky blue sheer over taffeta with pink shoulder-length veils caught with top-knots of pink flowers, and they carried bouquets of pink gladioli and maidenhair fern to tone. „ Mr David Weir, of Blackball, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and the groomsmen were Messrs P. Nolan, of Wataroa, and W. Nolan, of Okuru.
After the ceremony a reception, was held in the Public Hall, the guests being received by Mrs J. Nolan, mother 1 of the bride, who wore a navy cos-, tume and hat, with, a shoulder spray of cyclamen flowers, and Mrs D. Weir, mother of the bridegroom, who wore a navy frock with fur stole and accessories to match. The bride travelled in a smart grey costume with navy accessories. The home'of Mr and Mrs Weir will be at Wataroa.
