LATE MESSAGES

ITALIAN PRISONERS.

LONDON, December 16,

The Italian attitude to the war was demonstrated when a party of prisoners, halted near a British aerodrome in the Western Desert, cheered as British bombers took off. The Italians appear delighted to be captured, thus bringing to an end their wandering about the desert. Several hundred prisoners at one of the most-desolated spots in the Western Desert were huddled in stockades, waiting for lorries to arrive to drive them away. Some British airmen reported that a column of Italians were waiting patiently for capture, rather than continue to retreat along the road over which they advanced three months ago. ITALIAN MORALE. LONDON, December 16. The Associated Press Rome correspondent says that an intensive campaign to reinforce the morale in industrial north Italy began, as _ the High Command announced bitter fighting in Albania and Libya against strong Greek and British attacks. A communique stated there were considerable losses on both sides, when Italians repulsed Greek attacks. It added that heavy British casualties resulted from the bombing of the Libyan-Egyptian frontier. BOXING. BOSTON, December 16. Joe Louis, 202ilbs, will defend his title, to-night, against Al McCoy, ISOilbs.
